Adderley is on le Rang 1, and is not far from St. Pierre Baptiste. It was named by a settler who was originally from Adderley, Ireland, in the township of Tyrone, located near Moy.
On this location there was a Presbyterian church named South Kirk, built in 1873 and closed in 1977. The building was demolished in 1982. There were also the St. Lukes church and cemetery. The church was built in 1880 then closed and was sold in 1949. From 1875 to 1949 this church was part of the mission of Lower Ireland's Christ Church.
In 1880, this place was an important commercial square because of its post office, many wind mills, three blacksmiths, a carpenter, a shoe-maker, and a protestant school. Around 1892, the population of Adderley reached close to 100 people.
