In 1831, a blacksmith by the name of James Fullerton had a shop on Gosford Road near le Rang 3, in what was then called the Arran Scots Settlement. This shop no longer exists.
In 1832, the first meeting house was built in its place. It was not a denominational church and was built by all the settlement together. A second log church was built in 1838 and was used by the Congregationalists and the Baptists until about 1867.

You can still find in Milanville two cemeteries side by side (at the corner of le Rang 3). The first one is a private cemetery for the McKillop family. The second one is a Congregationalist cemetery where many of the first settlers of Arran were buried, including Col. Archibald McKillop, the unofficial leader of the group, and his son, “The Blind Bard of Megantic". A commemorative plaque indicates where the church stood until 1949.
